14 days, 6 cities, 5 countries, 3 people, 2 planes and a bump (part 1)

It was mid December and I was feeling the urge for a holiday. Some people are shopaholics, others are addicted to cigarettes or chocolate. Me... I love searching for holidays. It's quite sad really. I have spreadsheets on my laptop with holiday ideas. When I say ideas, it's probably more complicated and in depth than an "idea". I have costs of flights, hotels, car hire, things to do etc... Quite detailed information. Even route maps for road trips sometimes! It makes me happy. Plus, it makes sure that I get a good bargain. Two years ago I organised a 4 week road trip around the north eastern states of the USA, I tried to price it up with a travel agent, just to make sure I couldn't get it cheaper with them. The price they quoted was double. Go Emma! So anyway, back to what I was saying... I was ready to get something set in stone. I needed that holiday. In between classes I had started to look for bargains. The temptation of a new holiday was mounting! Then Ry...

The next step.

My husband and I have been together since 2006. We got married almost 7 years ago. Everyone expected the pitter patter of tiny feet not long after the wedding bells stopped. I was 25 years old. I remember thinking, "What's the rush?" Every time someone asked me the dreaded question " So, when are you going to have a baby?" or commented "You'll be next" if I so much as looked at a baby. I had to fight the urge to: 1. Smack them in the face or 2. Tell them that it's none of their business. It was as if everyone assumed that because we were now married, the only next logical step would be babies. Why?  Having kids is an amazing experience but should it really be the epitome of our existence? I say this as I'm pregnant with my first child, who was very much planned and who will be loved, but looking back over the 7 years since my wedding I can honestly say that I wouldn't change a thing. In 7 years we travelled to the States...

This is me. Currently.

Welcome to my life. I'm 32. I'm married. I live in Spain on the Costa Calida. I'm 14 weeks pregnant. I'm overweight (OK, well, obese according to that stupid BMI calculation). I'm ginger and freckly. I feel like I'm 19 years old . I'm fighting the urge not to throw up, I'm hungry but nothing takes my fancy. I miss my friends. Sometimes I like to be with people, sometimes I like my own space. I like to go to new places. I love period dramas. I love red wine and cold beer, obviously non alcohol at the moment. Some of these things will always be me. Some of them are new. Some of them change daily. Some of them will soon be a distant memory. My blog is about my daily life. At the moment my life is full of firsts. I'm a first time mum to be. I'm new to online teaching and I'm new to my town. As you can see, I like to throw myself in the deep end. We learn best when we're out of our comfort zone... that's how I'm trying to comfo...
